FAQs - Spectacle frames

  • Yes. Poor frame fit or incorrect lens positioning can affect how lenses perform, especially with stronger prescriptions or varifocal/progressive lenses.

  • You need to seek the advice of and experienced dispensing optician. Professional spectacle fitting considers your face shape, bridge size, lens thickness and comfort. Access to a wider range of frames including ones with modifiable sides and nose pieces will usually prove successful. Alternatively, spectacle frames, individually manufactured to match the measurements taken by our dispensing optician, offers a bespoke, custom made solution.

  • It is important to ensure your spectacle frame and lenses are not exposed to extreme heat. Temperatures of over 80C can damage even the toughest lenses or frames. Plastic lenses, in particular, should not be subjected to high temperatures. This could have an adverse effect on the durability of lens coatings (the anti-reflective coating, for example). Extreme temperature fluctuations could lead to surface cracks due to the different structures of the base lens and the coating. Therefore, neither your case nor your spectacles should be left for long periods of time in a sauna or on your car dashboard in the summer.

  • Your spectacles deserve a good home!

Store them in a case whenever you are not wearing them. If you don’t have a case with you, make sure you put them in a safe spot, with the lenses facing upwards.
